Whether you have Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Inoperable Cataracts, Glaucoma or any other condition causing vision loss, call 612-243-8999 for an interview with Dr. Palmer or an associate. We will offer an appointment only if we believe we can help!
What is a Task-Specific Device?
Have you been told "NOTHING MORE CAN BE DONE"? Are you frustrated at having to use hand magnifiers to read?
Dr. Palmer is trained to design special glasses that can make a difference by helping those with low vision to participate in their favorite activities again. Devices that Dr. Palmer prescribes include:

-
Spectacle Miniature Telescopes
Designed for tasks requiring better central vision and mobility, these glasses are used by drivers to see signs and traffic lights, by grandparents to see grandchildren playing soccer, and bridge players to see cards on the table.

-
Implantable Miniature Telescopes
This cataract implant is surgically placed in one eye to magnify distance images. There are many criteria for acceptance into the program to minimize the risks that are always present with surgery.

-
ClearImage II MicroScope Glasses
Two high-powered lenses "piggybacked" for crystal clear images are prescribed for reading small print.

-
Spectacle Prismatic Glasses
These moderate powered lenses are useful for near tasks like reading, writing and handicrafts.

-
E-Scoop Contrast Enhancing Glasses
These lenses combine five special optical elements that create a larger, clearer, higher contrast image. One patient improved his golf score dramatically while wearing them. Another explained, "This is the clearest I have seen in years." They must be seen to be believed.
